Erin DiMeglio - Girls’ Basketball
South Plantation High School
For the past two years, Erin has served as captain of her basketball team while carrying a cumulative GPA of 4.3. However, it was a completely different sport that brought her notoriety at the beginning of her senior season. DiMeglio became the first girl in Florida high school football history to play quarterback in a varsity game, plus complete a pass in a regular season game. Erin is also the captain of the school’s flag football team. Away from school and sports, she’s logged over 200 hours of volunteering at various events.
Zach Eklum - Wrestling
Jamestown High School
Jamestown, New York
Zach is a three-sport athlete (football, tennis and wrestling), who is on-track to be his school’s valedictorian. Eklum, who ranks #1 in his class, has been honored by the New York State Athletics Administrator’s Association as the Section VI male student-athlete of the year. A two-way starter in football, Zach is also the defending county champ in tennis and this year was a Section VI champ in wrestling at 182 pounds. His goal is to become a doctor
Kelly Huber - Swimming
Kelly is a senior who plays soccer and is a member of Westford Academy’s swim team. She carries a 3.89 GPA with a rigorous course load of AP courses in calculus, physics, English, marine biology and psychology. Kelly is a two-time Massachusetts state champion in the 100-yard Breaststroke, plus she’s been named a High School All-American for her breaststroke leg of Westford Academy’s 200-yard Medley Relay team in 2011. In the fall she coaches a Special Olympics soccer team.
Jessica Kalbfleisch - Girls’ Basketball
Traverse City West High School
Traverse City, Michigan
Jessica, who holds a 3.76 GPA, is a member of the volleyball, basketball and soccer teams. She will attend Northwood University in the fall to play soccer and pursue a degree in business. Jessica was named a captain in both soccer and basketball. Jessica was named First Team All-Conference II Soccer, while participating in a wide range of school and community activities, holding leadership positions in Student Senate and Class Council.
Henry Phalen - Indoor Track
Milford High School
Henry, who carries a weighted GPA of 4.75, is currently ranked #1 in his class while also becoming one of the top runners in the state of Delaware. One of the most incredible feats during his athletic career was during his junior season when he finished 3rd in the 3200-meter Winter Indoor Conference championship after breaking a bone in his leg with three laps to go. Phalen, who plans on attending an Ivy League school, wants to run competitively in college.
Trent Verwers - Boys’ Basketball
Martensdale-St. Mary’s High School
Trent is a rarity in that he’s a four-sport athlete (baseball, basketball, football and track) while still maintaining a 3.67 GPA. This National Honor Society student-athlete has led his school to three straight Iowa state baseball championships while earning Academic All-Conference honors in all four sports categories. Verwers was named second team all-state quarterback in Class A. He plans on majoring in Sports Administration in college.
